The Opportunity
ISS is searching for an experienced and motivated Chef to join our fast-paced kitchen operations in our Mining Villages in Central Queensland. This role operates on a 9 days on / 5 days off or 2 weeks on / 1 week off roster, giving you the balance to enjoy life outside of work.
Reporting to the Head Chef/Village Manager, you will showcase your culinary skills in a dynamic remote mining environment while supporting the catering team to deliver high-quality meals and a positive on-site dining experience for residents.
About the Role
As a Chef, you will participate in kitchen operations while working with fellow qualified chefs to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals with consistency and pride.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook high-quality meals consistently and efficiently.
* Support the kitchen team to maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
* Assist with stock management, ordering, and kitchen operations.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu execution and service improvements.
* Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
To be considered, you need:
* Proven professional work experience as qualified chef (minimum 2–3 years).
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher).
* Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
* FIFO experience in a high-volume kitchen environment (desirable).
* Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
* Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
* Must pass a full Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
* Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
* Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
* Full working rights in Australia.
