Founded in 1882, Brighton Grammar School (BGS) is an Anglican school for boys, committed to developing, inspiring, and guiding each student to achieve his personal best across all areas of school life.

Located in the bayside suburb of Brighton, the School is known for its strong sense of community, where authentic relationships between students, staff and families underpin a connected and supportive environment.

Role

Brighton Grammar School invites applications for the key leadership role of Director of Community Engagement to commence in January 2027.

Reporting to the Headmaster, the role is responsible for leading and managing the School's community relations and marketing strategies.

The Director of Community Engagement is a member of the Senior Executive Team, making a significant contribution to shaping organisational structure and culture in support of strategic objectives. The position is both strategic and operational, encompassing a broad remit of responsibilities.

The Director of Community Engagement plays a pivotal role in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, business partners and the wider community to enhance the School's impact and presence. This work is supported by the Community Engagement Team and a strong collaborative relationship with the Head of Advancement and the wider Advancement team.

As Brighton Grammar approaches its 145th anniversary in 2027 and 150th in 2032, the years ahead present significant momentum and opportunity. Guided by the BGS2032 Strategy, the School will continue to evolve its campus and programs, including a state‐of‐the‐art Performing Arts Centre and indoor basketball complex, reflecting a clear vision for growth and renewal. Central to this will be the coordination and project planning of both milestone anniversaries, with whole‐of‐school celebrations and community engagement, as well as working with internal and external partners to support the research, writing and production of a comprehensive 150‐year history of the School, ensuring it is delivered to the highest of standards in readiness for 2032.

To succeed in this position the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

* A tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Communications, Education or related field.
* Relevant and demonstrated experience in a senior role within education and/or building partnerships and sponsorships.
* Proven experience in project management, including the planning and delivery of complex, multi‐stakeholder initiatives.
* Experience working with archives or heritage collections is advantageous, along with an interest in the history of a school or comparable organisation.
* Experience engaging with alumni communities and managing parent groups or similar stakeholder networks.
* High‐level ICT and social media literacy.
* A proven track record of leading, mentoring and guiding a team to achieve successful outcomes.
* The ability to operate within a senior executive context, with the flexibility to work cross‐functionally to support school priorities. Demonstrated experience in high volume, fast‐paced, administration positions.
* Current Working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check (or the willingness to undertake a check prior to beginning employment).
