Role context
These are key positions at Canberra School of Professional Studies. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the school’s teaching, research and administration through course development and delivery, research outputs and higher degree supervision, quality assurance, industry engagement, student support, and assist in other administrative duties related to the school and faculty objectives. We welcome applicants with strong technical expertise in cyber security and computer science. Areas of interest include but are not limited to cryptography, secure systems cloud computing, threat detection, digital forensics, ethical hacking, and data science. We are looking for passionate academics eager to make a difference in our communities and the world through innovative teaching practices, cutting edge research and professional engagements. We are looking for those ready to challenge systems, ask questions, think differently, who are adaptable, and not afraid to make mistakes, but most importantly, work as part of a team. The role reports to the Head of School.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to teaching, research and administration within the Canberra School of Professional Studies.
* Develop and deliver courses; supervise higher degree by research students; contribute to quality assurance and program review.
* Engage with industry and professional bodies; support students; participate in other administrative duties aligned with school and faculty objectives.
* Apply strong technical expertise in cyber security and computer science to teaching and research activities (areas include cryptography, secure systems, cloud computing, threat detection, digital forensics, ethical hacking, data science).
* Collaborate with colleagues; contribute to a team-focused academic environment.
Who You Are (Skills and Experience)
Lecturer (Level B)
* A PhD in a related discipline, plus relevant work experience.
* A good track record of research and publication and/or competitive research income in a chosen field.
* Demonstrated expertise and currency in some of the listed technical aspects of cybersecurity.
* Evidence of teaching and learning design, development, delivery and pastoral care of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with positive evaluation.
* Experience using and designing with educational technologies and flexible delivery platforms.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organisational communication skills, and emotional intelligence.
* Ability to work with and support students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
* Demonstrated experience with industry and professional bodies and applying work integrated learning.
Senior Lecturer (Level C)
* In addition to Level B skills and experience: course and program development.
* Research output through publications in high impact journals relative to opportunity.
* Research grant successes.
* Postgraduate supervision.
* Academic administration and staff mentoring.
* Community and industry engagement.
