This Role in The Big Picture


As a Team Leader in Community Organisations Disaster Adaptation, you strengthen disaster preparedness and sector collaboration while leading staff and volunteers to deliver high‑quality, coordinated work. You oversee workloads, support day‑to‑day operations, and foster a positive, solution‑focused team culture. You ensure strong governance by maintaining accurate reporting, tracking deliverables, and monitoring progress against milestones and work plans. You contribute to partner and governance meetings, help manage risks, and keep activities aligned with project requirements and shared goals. You work collaboratively with councils, government agencies, peak bodies, and community organisations to co‑design practical, inclusive systems and tools. Through strong relationships and effective engagement, you ensure sector needs are understood and embedded in disaster planning and capability development.

You manage the project budget effectively, maintain accurate reporting, and ensure strong governance aligned with funding and organisational requirements. You build productive, collaborative relationships across the sector, strengthening coordination and improving outcomes for communities. You support capacity building, encourage knowledge sharing, and promote inclusive engagement. Your proactive problem‑solving, focus on continuous improvement, and ability to capture and share lessons learned help create a more connected, resilient, and responsive sector.


Selection Criteria


Required

1. Qualifications: Certificate IV in Community Services (or equivalent experience), with a Diploma in Community Services, Emergency Management or Project Management preferred. Ability to apply sector knowledge in a leadership, coordination, or team oversight role.

2. Project Coordination: Experience coordinating community-based projects, including planning, implementation, and monitoring progress against work plans.

3. Stakeholder Engagement: Strong capability in building and maintaining relationships with community organisations, councils, government agencies, peak bodies, and diverse stakeholders.

4. Marketing & Communication: Experience developing or contributing to communication and engagement strategies that promote sector initiatives, programs, events and learning activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, resources, and presentations for varied audiences.

5. Reporting & Compliance: Proven ability to meet project milestones, track team and stakeholder contributions, and maintain accurate documentation in line with funding and organisational requirements.

6. Community Capacity Building: Experience supporting vulnerable groups and delivering training, workshops, or engagement activities that build sector capability and organisational resilience.

7. Personal Attributes: Demonstrated integrity, respect, accountability, teamwork, and alignment with organisational values. Able to work independently while supporting others, manage competing priorities, adapt to changing environments, and bring initiative and problem‑solving to a collaborative team culture.

Desired

· Sector Experience: Experience working within the community services sector.

· Training: Has completed Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (PCEP) training or is willing to obtain within 3 months of employment.

Probity Requirements

Right to Work in Australia.

NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Working With Children Check.

Valid NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel between service locations as required.
