The Opportunity
MTA WA is searching for an energetic and strategic professional to drive the growth of high‐value partnerships that strengthen member value, commercial growth, and industry impact.
The newly created position of Partnerships Manager will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and managing partnerships that deliver strong commercial outcomes, meaningful member value, and broader industry impact.
You will lead the partnership strategy, manage key commercial relationships, and collaborate across the organisation to deliver outstanding experiences, sponsorship activation, and innovative partnership initiatives.
This is primarily an office-based role and key deliverables include:
* Renegotiation of current partner contracts
* Formalising current informal relationships
* Maximising value from current partnerships through strategic improvements
* New targeted partnerships
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and execution of MTA WA's partnership strategy aligned to organisational goals.
* Identify and pursue high‐value partnership opportunities across the automotive ecosystem.
* Build strong, long-term commercial and industry relationships that deliver mutual value.
* Partner Relationship Management
* Manage a portfolio of existing partners, ensuring timely delivery of obligations, reporting, and activation activities for both parties.
* Facilitate cross‐department collaboration to ensure partners receive high-quality engagement across events, training, marketing, and member services.
* Conduct regular partnership reviews to optimise outcomes and retention.
* Commercial & Sponsorship Management
* Develop partnership and sponsorship proposals for events, programs, advocacy initiatives, and digital platforms.
* Negotiate commercial agreements that maximise benefits for members and revenue diversification for MTA WA.
* Deliver high‐quality sponsorship outcomes across flagship events including the MTA WA Awards and Graduation Events.
* Member & Industry Engagement
* Work closely with the Membership team, to ensure partnerships contribute meaningfully to member value.
* Collaborate on initiatives that support workforce development, apprenticeships, automotive training excellence, and industry innovation.
* Facilitate connections between partners and member businesses.
* Represent MTA WA at external meetings and events as required.
* Marketing & Communications Support
* Work closely with the management stakeholders to ensure alignment with overall business strategy and objectives.
* Partner with the wider Marketing team to develop integrated campaigns that highlight partnership activities, sponsor recognition, and industry initiatives.
* Ensure partner branding is appropriately represented across digital channels, publications, and events.
* Event Engagement & Activation
* Drive partnership involvement across MTA WA events, including exhibitions, awards, training events, and other activities.
* Manage partner activations, speaking opportunities, signage, showcases, and sponsorship representations.
* Provide on-ground support during events to ensure partners receive a high-quality experience.
* Reporting & Compliance
* Maintain accurate records of partnership agreements, deliverables, and engagement.
* Prepare reports and presentations for leadership, including pipeline updates and performance metrics.
* Ensure all activities comply with MTA WA policies, agreements, and governance requirements.
About You
Experience in partnership management, business development, stakeholder engagement, account management, or a related commercial role — ideally within an industry association, membership organisation, or B2B environment.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic partnership frameworks, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage high‐value relationships.
Strong commercial acumen, with experience identifying opportunities that drive revenue, member value, and organisational impact.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated capability in cross‐functional leadership, working effectively with teams across marketing, membership, training, advocacy, and events.
Experience in sponsorship management, with the ability to oversee deliverables from proposal development through to execution.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, able to translate partner and industry insights into actionable initiatives.
High-level organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with CRM systems, marketing platforms, and modern digital tools
Experience within the automotive industry will be highly regarded!
