Support Services for Children Branch, within Inclusion Division, is seeking a highly motivated and well organised candidate to join our team. The Child and Family Centre Director provides strategic leadership and management to ensure the delivery of culturally proficient services for children and families. This role involves overseeing daily operations, budgets, and staff development, while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies. The Director will also lead community development and education initiatives to strengthen the community and promote optimal child development outcomes. This position will work from the Centre and in outreach settings such as schools and early childhood settings. They will be responsible for establishing effective and sustainable partnerships across schools, communities, government and non-government agencies and the business sector. Eligibility / Other Requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or a related field, such as a Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health). At least 5 years’ experience working with children and their families and/or carers. Demonstrated experience in leading high-performing teams and supervising staff. This role will directly deliver services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and build on existing partnerships with Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs). Experience in working directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and in partnership with ACCOs is essential. As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, the capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable. Experience in community development and strategic stakeholder management is highly desirable. Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams within a human services context is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development, early intervention, and prevention principles is highly desirable. Educational, suitability, and professional qualification checks may be carried out prior to employment. Current Driver’s License. This position does require a pre‑employment medical check. Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. This is a temporary position available for a period of six months from 25 December 2025 until 31 July 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
