Overview
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Full Time Sous Chef to join the PLG team at Highways in Springvale. You\'ll oversee daily operations, manage kitchen staff, and ensure consistent food quality. If you\'re ready to step into a leadership role, this is a great opportunity for you!
Highways is located in the hub of suburban south-east Melbourne on the perimeter of Ladbrokes Park (Sandown Racecourse). The venue features a family-friendly bistro with a designated kids play area and a relaxed atmosphere, offering an extensive modern menu with daily specials and catering to both children and adults alike. Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in managing and training a diverse kitchen team.
- Implement and manage Food Safety Plans.
- Prepare and cook menu items according to cooking guidelines and established standards.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement menus.
- Work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ensure all food safety procedures are followed.
The role may be fast-paced and require tasks including, but not limited to, lifting boxes, kegs or stock, standing for long periods, and using stairs.
What We Are Looking For
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Food Handlers Certificate.
- Experience in a pub/bistro fast-paced workplace.
- Well-versed in all kitchen areas with hands-on experience.
- Ability to follow and give directions when required.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Full working rights in Australia.
