As we continue to diversify into new product lines and growth partnerships, we're ready to appoint a strong General Manager to lead our team into the next phase of growth.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the founders, this newly created General Manager role is a pivotal leadership position that will bring structure, strategic oversight, and people-first leadership to the business. You'll act as the operational "glue" of the company keeping all moving parts aligned while freeing up the founders to focus on innovation and growth. You'll lead a team of approximately 20 people across warehousing, retail, office and sales. This role requires someone with strong interpersonal skills who can manage performance and lead by influence and results. You'll also oversee systems implementation, budgeting and cost controls, performance management, and be a key connector across sales, operations, and logistics.
We're looking for an emotionally intelligent, practical, and values-aligned leader. You'll need the resilience and adaptability to work in a fast-moving, multi-channel business and the people skills to connect with everyone from beekeeper to major buyers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide day-to-day leadership across operations, office, warehousing, retail and sales.
• Build team alignment and accountability while maintaining our people-first culture.
• Manage staffing and recruitment needs, including onboarding and performance management.
• Liaise regularly with the owners to ensure transparency and alignment with strategic priorities.
• Oversee supply chain processes from hive to shelf – extraction, bottling, packaging and distribution.
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations and improve internal systems and reporting.
• Support diversification projects (e.g. new product development, licensing, retail expansion, grants).
• Maintain quality standards and compliance across food, safety, staffing, and stock levels.
• Be hands-on and solutions-focused when dealing with challenges across departments.
• Travel as needed between sites across Victoria (Mildura and Marong).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role – ideally General Manager, Head of Operations or similar
• Background in FMCG, food production, or multi-channel retail/distribution
• Strong leadership and people management capability across blue- and white-collar teams
• Comfortable leading in an environment where performance matters
• High emotional intelligence, active listener, and a natural collaborator
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, lead cross-functional teams, and implement systems
• Excellent communication skills, both with internal teams and owners
DESIRABLE
• Ability to start in January 2026
• Experience working in food production or a product-based SME environment
• Familiarity with CRM systems, reporting dashboards, and process improvement tools
