Rangers ensure that Queensland's national parks, state forests and reserves are protected, accessible and valued by all Queenslanders. This means Rangers undertake a wide variety of tasks to achieve this including carrying out maintenance on assets, natural resource and cultural management, fire management, weed and pest control and so much more.
The work is in the most part field based and can be physically challenging and includes working in remote outdoor environments and rough terrain, so a high level of fitness is required. You will require skills with tools and additional skills with chainsaws and other machinery are desirable. The work can also include duties such as cleaning of amenities. You will also be required to undertake some administrative tasks and duties. You will work with a variety of people including the general public and both internal and external stakeholders so great communication skills and personal presentation are a must.
