Manpower Engineering, Trades & Technical is partnering with a leading South Australian steel fabrication and erection business to find an exceptional Workshop Manager to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role where your technical skills and people leadership will truly make an impact.
About the role
As Workshop Manager, you'll lead and oversee all fabrication activities, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality and safety, on time and within budget. You'll inspire and guide a skilled trades team, foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement, and work closely with senior leaders and project teams.
What you'll be doing
* Lead, organise, and supervise workshop operations to meet quality and production targets
* Oversee fabrication schedules, review drawings, and set clear production objectives
* Maintain strong focus on safety, driving a proactive safety culture across the workshop
* Manage resource allocation, including overtime and labour utilisation, to optimise delivery and control costs
* Work closely with estimators, drafters, project managers, and procurement to align on project priorities
* Implement and uphold quality management processes, ensuring all work meets required standards
* Support recruitment, training, and development of workshop staff, encouraging skills growth and versatility
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high housekeeping standards
About you
* Trade/Engineering qualified (Fitter, Boilermaker or similar) with extensive workshop and fabrication experience (5+ years preferred)
* Proven leadership in workshop or fabrication environments, with strong focus on safety and quality
* Confident interpreting technical drawings and managing production schedules
* Skilled in engaging and motivating teams, fostering a positive and accountable culture
* Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
* Forklift license and crane awareness highly desirable
