About the Role

The University Events team is seeking an Administrative and Event Support Officer to join their dynamic and high‑performing team. The University Events team deliver a wide variety of impactful events across the University, including awards ceremonies, cocktail functions, launches, exhibition openings, student‑facing activations – and much more!
In this role you will be the team’s central administration and event support anchor, working collaboratively to facilitate the smooth and efficient delivery of both day‑to‑day operations and special projects. This position requires a well‑organised, proactive individual who can confidently manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Your work will underpin the team’s operations and ensure events are delivered with consistency and professionalism.

Responsibilities

- Oversee key administrative functions that enable effective event planning, preparation and delivery, applying strong organisational and systems skills.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the team, managing shared inboxes and providing informed, timely guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Deliver confident, professional on‑site event support, including registration coordination, guest management and ensuring seamless event operations.
- Coordinate operational requirements with precision, including equipment bookings, supplier liaison and administrative support for project activities.
- Maintain core administrative systems to a high standard, including the central events calendar, finance reporting, meeting coordination and internal communications.
- Manage competing administrative priorities with sound judgement, contributing to a well‑organised, efficient and collaborative team environment.

Selection Criteria

- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and confidently assist a broad range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver high‑quality operational support, including coordinating logistics, managing systems and contributing to smooth event delivery.
- Proven problem‑solving skills, with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach.
- Confidence using digital tools and systems, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
- A collaborative and supportive working style, contributing to a positive team environment and consistently delivering work to a high standard.
- Previous experience supporting the planning, coordination or delivery of events or a background in event management.

Role Requirements

- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
