Health and Safety Advisor (Tailings) - Global Mining Group – FIFO - Contract Role
Initial 6 month contract role with a strong likelihood of a 12 month extension.
FIFO from anywhere in Australia, 12 days on, 9 days off at mine site.
Very competitive day rate, all travel included, including accommodation at site.
About the role
The role of the Health and Safety Advisor is to support the delivery of the Health and Safety programs for Tailings Projects by implementing corporate standards and tailored initiatives that address project specific risks and requirements.
We are ideally seeking candidates with prior experience of implementing OH&S systems in major project environments relating to Structural, Mechanical Piping (SMP) and Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I), including knowledge of legislative requirements, and prior experience of working with EPC/M contractors.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing professional oversight, training, and strategic safety guidance for Health and Safety (H&S) initiatives through all project life cycle phases and helping to achieve planned H&S deliverables for Tailings.
* Driving the integration and effective use of H&S systems for the Tailings Project relating to SMP and E&I activities.
* Contributing to governance and assurance frameworks to monitor and mitigate health and safety risks, including fatality risk compliance.
* Defining and implementing strategic Health and Safety initiatives across the Project, including engagement with Project Leadership Teams and EPC/M contractors.
* Providing expert technical advice and guidance to key stakeholders on the application of the organisations risk management processes through all project stages including execution.
About the Person
* Relevant qualifications in H&S, Risk Management, Engineering or equivalent.
* The successful candidate will have strong experience in major mining or capital projects, EPCM environments, SMP and E&I construction activities, contractor management, governance, compliance and assurance and H&S systems and critical controls.
* Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships through active listening and inquiry.
* Strong influencing and negotiation skills to achieve productive outcomes.
