About the Role
As a Locomotive Driver Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting freight train operations. Your duties will include:
* Assisting the Locomotive Driver with the safe and efficient running of trains
* Conducting pre-start checks and preparing locomotives for service
* Coupling and uncoupling wagons, managing shunting tasks, and assembling trains
* Reporting any faults or irregularities promptly
* Complying with all site and safety procedures
For the duration of the classroom training program, you will be paid $29.33 gross per hour plus super.
This is a casual role that offers flexibility, with the opportunity to take on more work based on your availability and readiness .
You will sign on for shifts from Narrabri and various North West NSW locations, depending on operational needs.
Training Details
* Classroom-based training will be held in Tamworth
* Practical training and assessments will take place at a live site in Werris Creek
* All training is paid and delivered by a nationally recognised RTO
* Accommodation and meals will be provided during your training in Tamworth

About You
To be successful, you will:
* Be committed to working safely and following procedures
* Be reliable, punctual, and eager to learn
* Have sound reading, writing & computer skills to complete training and workplace documentation
* Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
* Be able to complete a Musculoskeletal Fitness Assessment
* Hold (or be willing to obtain) a First Aid Certificate
* Be able to pass a Category 1 Rail Medical, including drug and alcohol screening
* Hold a Class C or higher drivers licence with no restrictions
