Designer/ Drafter– Industrial Equipment

MMT Recruitment is partnering with a well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Structural Designer / Drafter to support the design, fabrication and installation of heavy industrial plant and materials handling equipment.
This role suits a technically strong drafter who enjoys hands-on engineering work, producing shop-ready drawings, collaborating with engineers, and spending time both in the office and on-site.

The Role
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality design documentation across multiple projects, including:
* Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
* Developing fabrication drawings, workshop details and assemblies
* Creating bills of materials (BOMs), technical specifications and documentation
* Reviewing and updating engineering mark-ups and revisions
* Working closely with engineers, project teams and production staff
* Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to ensure accuracy and buildability
* Supporting estimating and project delivery through drawings and BOMs
* Assisting with site visits and client interactions where required
* Contributing to continuous improvement of drawing standards and libraries
About You
* Minimum 3+ years' experience as a Mechanical Designer / Drafter
* Strong background in industrial, manufacturing or heavy engineering environments
* High proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (essential)
* Ability to produce practical, fabrication-ready drawings
* Solid understanding of weld symbols, GD&T and machining tolerances
* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
* Confident working independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Highly Regarded
* Experience in materials handling, mining, quarrying, ports or marine projects
* Familiarity with T ekla or Advance Steel
* Fabrication or workshop exposure
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Design, Drafting or Engineering
