Senior Occupational Therapist - Paediatrics
About the role
An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Therapist Senior Clinician to work within the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service - Eastern. The position is permanent part time (24 hours a fortnight) and is based at Angliss Hospital, Upper Ferntree Gully.
The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service caters for babies, children and adolescents who require specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation. The young people supported by VPRS are recovering from acquired brain injuries, medical/surgical intervention or require tone management or early diagnostics, surveillance and support for Cerebral Palsy. Services are provided in collaboration with the medical and allied health team, in either the Community Rehabilitation Centre or in the child's community.
Extensive experience working with a paediatric population (babies/children/adolescents) and their families, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team is essential. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in paediatric rehabilitation and those who are certified in the administration and scoring of the Hand Assessment for Infants (HAI) and/or Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA). Further skills viewed positively include liaison and funding applications with childcare, kindergarten and schools, cognitive fatigue and return to school/early childhood settings, and familiarity with NDIS funding and Assistive Technology.
Supervision of students and other occupational therapists across paediatric settings at Eastern Health and the provision of leadership support to VPRS – Eastern are key components of the role.
Our key team day is Thursday and availability on this day is necessary. The successful applicant may choose to work a 3 day (3 x 8) or 4 day (4 x 6 hr) fortnight.

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Qualifications
* B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT pract or recognised equivalent.
* Full Registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
* Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership).
* Current Victorian Driver's License.
* Minimum seven years clinical experience in Occupational Therapy.
* Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership in Paediatrics.
* Demonstrated best practice in assessment and intervention, including evidence of advanced clinical skills and family centred practice.
* A clear understanding of Occupational Therapy Service strategic priorities within a large healthcare network.
* Well developed leadership skills, including the ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional competence of other Occupational Therapy staff.
