We're now offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced, hands-on Event Operations Coordinator to join our Events team, supporting the delivery of high-quality events across the Waterside Event Centre.
About the Role
Reporting to the Events Manager, this role supports the operational delivery of events from start to finish — including planning, staffing, on-the-day coordination and post-event wrap-up. You'll provide hands-on leadership to Event Food & Beverage staff, ensuring smooth operations, outstanding customer service and exceptional event experiences.
This is a people-focused role, ideal for someone who thrives in a live environment, enjoys leading teams on the floor, and takes pride in delivering events to a high professional standard. You'll also step into the role of Acting Events Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities
Event Operations & Delivery
* Coordinate and supervise event setup, operation and breakdown
* Manage guest arrivals, seating, entertainment and event flow
* Ensure event briefs are followed and client expectations are exceeded
* Provide hands-on food and beverage service support during events
Leadership & Team Supervision
* Lead, coach and support Event F&B staff during shifts
* Conduct pre-shift briefings and allocate duties
* Monitor service delivery, productivity, presentation and professionalism
* Foster a positive, engaged and customer-focused team culture
Staff Training & Performance
* Provide on-the-job coaching and skills development
* Identify service gaps and work with management on improvement initiatives
Rostering & Administration
* Prepare weekly rosters aligned with the events calendar
* Assist the Events Manager with monitoring labour costs in line with event revenue targets
* Process POS transactions and event invoicing
* Maintain function booking calendars and assist with client enquiries, venue tours and event packs
Compliance, Safety & Standards
* Ensure compliance with RSA requirements, QLD Liquor Act and WH&S policies
* Promote safe work practices, incident reporting and emergency procedures
* Uphold Currumbin RSL's Code of Conduct and service standards
About You
You'll bring a strong operational mindset, excellent people leadership skills and a calm, organised approach — even when things get busy.
You'll also have:
* Demonstrated experience coordinating events or functions in hospitality, clubs or events
* Proven experience supervising teams in a customer-facing environment
* Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
* Confidence managing staff rosters, service flow and labour costs
* A hands-on approach and willingness to work evenings and weekends
* Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for service excellence
