Collaborating with peers, you will elevate Structures' profile, partnering with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), industry, and the Queensland community. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Engineer Structures, your role will involve providing expert advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders on planning, design, and construction of structural engineering projects. Through vision, leadership, and strategic direction, you will shape better outcomes across the statewide transport network. Your focus areas include structural design and construction; overseeing project delivery; ensuring efficient design review processes; supporting construction activities; driving innovation; developing technical standards; informing investment decisions; and integrating digital engineering practices with asset management. As a high-performing Executive Director, you will lead a team of structural engineers and technical officers to deliver responsive, customer-focused services and authoritative engineering advice. The work spans all lifecycle stages of structures—planning, design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation. Your oversight will foster accountability, stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and continuous industry innovation to achieve optimal outcomes. Your Leadership and Technical Expertise Success will depend on your engagement and collaboration skills, trust-building, mentorship, and commitment to continuous improvement. A strong background in bridge and transport structure design, combined with professional leadership and high-level advisory experience, is essential. Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements Possession of a Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering (Structural or Civil) or equivalent recognized by Engineers Australia. Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) in Structural Engineering.
