The Opportunity
Aquatec is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to play a critical role in the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Queensland.
Reporting into the General Manager Core Project, you will manage projects from contract award through to commissioning and client handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
This role combines requires project oversight with hands on project delivery and requires strong commercial acumen, technical capability and leadership skills. You will work closely with internal design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, commercial, HSEQ and site teams, as well as clients, consultants and subcontractors, to drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Assign required resources to projects, ensuring alignment with agreed schedules and budgets;
* Manage overall project budgets, forecasts, baseline costs and project margins;
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants and subcontractors, managing technical queries, commercial matters and scheduling updates;
* Collate and maintain all required site documentation in accordance with Aquatec processes and procedures;
* Liaise between procurement, engineering, production and site teams to ensure seamless project delivery and workflow coordination;
* Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, construction, commissioning and HSEQ functions;
* Ensure all project materials, equipment and deliverables are accurate, meet quality standards, are preassembled correctly and delivered on time;
* Manage internal and external deliveries to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality requirements and delivery schedules;
* Identify, investigate and rectify project delivery issues and audit findings to prevent reoccurrence;
* Prepare and manage project variations and claims;
* Conduct post-project reviews, ensuring project data is accurately captured and transactions are completed for monthly reporting and commentary;
* Review civil layouts, long‐sections, cross‐sections and technical documentation where required;
* Drive a strong safety‐first culture and ensure compliance with all HSEQ requirements; and
* Ensure Aquatec site teams and subcontractors adhere to company processes, standards and procedures.
Key Selection Criteria
* Experience and knowledge in the water and wastewater industry including pipes, valves, pumps and structures (familiarity with WSAA codes and MRWA specifications is highly preferred);
* Able to plan and deliver on your commitments with autonomy and across multiple projects simultaneously (essential);
* Able to review civil site layouts, cross‐sections, long‐sections etc.; and
* Basic knowledge in hydraulics (preferred).
About You
We are seeking a proactive and solutions‐focused Project Manager who thrives in complex and fast‐paced environments. You will possess strong leadership capability, technical understanding and commercial awareness, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver successful project outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will have:
* 5+ years' project management experience within infrastructure, water, wastewater or similar process industries;
* Experience delivering complex construction and infrastructure projects;
* Degree qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Project Management (Construction related) preferred;
* Strong understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure including pumps, valves, pipelines and structures;
* Demonstrated experience managing projects and project delivery teams across end‐to‐end project lifecycles;
* Strong contract and commercial management capability;
* Experience using Primavera P6, MS Project or similar scheduling software;
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills;
* Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects concurrently;
* Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement; and
* Desirable: CPEng, PMP, Prince2 or similar industry certifications.
