Your Prospect
Mission Australia are delighted to be a partner in the exciting new Medicare Mental Health Centre for the Murrumbidgee region.
The Medicare Mental Health Centre will provide a safe and welcoming place for adults, their families, and friends, who may be in distress, facing mental health challenges or crisis. The centre will provide mental health care or help find the right support services for the individual needs of the client and their families.
The Family Support Workers are a vital part of the support team at Medicare Mental Health Centre, providing wrap around supports to families to ensure that they develop parenting skills, and helps them connect with schools, the service system, and other supports in the community.

Your key responsibilities will be:
- Work in partnership with Medicare Mental Health Centre to engage families who are at risk of significant harm.
- Provide strengths based holistic case management practice to families experiencing mental health challenges
- Conduct assessments to identify the needs of families
- Develop and implement tailored support plans to address identified needs
- Offer guidance and resources to families to promote healthy and safe environments for children.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of families and children within the community.
- Support parents to implement strategies and develop the necessary skills and resources.
- Facilitate evidence based parenting programs for families.
- Provide on-call services for the program when required
- Document all client services and maintain accurate and up to date client files,
- Work under general direction with Mission Australia and Medicare Mental Health Centre to ensure that program guidelines are adhered to.
Requirements for Success
- Relevant Diploma Qualifications or higher in Community Services, Mental Health, AOD and/or relevant industry experience
- Experience in case management and the delivery of living skills and / or parenting programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues facing vulnerable families and their children.
- Current NSW Driver's License
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
