Role Overview
Reporting to the Accounting Manager this is an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant to apply sound accounting principles across a diverse client base. You will prepare financial statements, tax returns and management reports for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies while contributing to business advisory and strategic planning engagements.
This role offers significant exposure to financial analysis, compliance and client advisory work while supporting senior accountants and directors in delivering exceptional outcomes. You'll be encouraged to contribute ideas, participate in firm initiatives and take ownership of your professional growth.
Responsibilities
* Prepare tax returns and financial statements for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies.
* Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgets, forecasts and variance reports.
* Support the accounting team with business advisory, strategic planning and compliance engagements.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records ensuring confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders via phone, email and in‑person meetings to provide proactive advice and updates.
* Ensure all work complies with current taxation laws, accounting standards and firm policies.
* Contribute to the achievement of weekly team goals and individual KPI targets.
* Identify opportunities to add value for clients through forward‑thinking recommendations and business insights.
* Participate in internal improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and client outcomes.
* Promote a positive team culture and actively engage in firm events and professional development activities.
Candidate Profile
As an ideal candidate you are a degree‑qualified accountant with 3‑4 years of public practice experience and are either CA qualified or working towards your CA designation. You possess strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to client service.
You're confident using Xero, MYOB and Microsoft 365 with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. You enjoy collaborating with others, take ownership of your work and thrive in a supportive environment that values initiative, adaptability and continuous growth.
