About the Role

The Senior Stakeholder Engagement Officer provides support for Aboriginal stakeholders and community engagement and communications activities to support two of the NSW Government's priority programs – the Regional Digital Connectivity Program (RDCP) and Aboriginal Economic Development (AED). This includes supporting community engagement throughout the project lifecycle, liaising with identified stakeholders and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships, drafting correspondence and other communications content, engaging with community, attending community events and collaborating with communications specialists in other stakeholder organisations.

The RDCP group works to ensure families and businesses across regional NSW have access to better mobile and internet services. The program enables more connected, empowered and prosperous communities by leveraging investments in digital connectivity solutions.

The AED group focuses on strong cultural partnerships, and supporting regional Aboriginal business, employment and training aspirations. The AED team live in community, are connected to Country, and work with their local communities to co-design programs and initiatives that will suit their needs and aspirations.

This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

* is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
* identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
* is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

* Demonstrated understanding of place-based Aboriginal ways of working, knowing and doing to ensure culturally appropriate engagement.
* Experience in developing trusted relationships with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders through respectful consultation and listening to community aspirations.
* Capability in supporting the delivery of digital connectivity projects through inclusive and effective Aboriginal stakeholder and community engagement.
* Experience in monitoring stakeholder feedback, analysing issues raised in correspondence, and providing recommendations to maintain positive relationships and manage risks.
* Proficiency in preparing culturally informed communication materials, including event briefs, newsletters, speeches, and digital content to support program awareness.
* Experience in contributing to stakeholder and issue management strategies by developing tools to address emerging concerns and align with broader communication objectives.
