Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHRM) is a core state-wide clinical service under the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework. Services include:
* Critical care responses from Hobart and Launceston bases for pre-hospital and in-facility treatment and interfacility transport for seriously ill or injured patients.
* A Critical Care Management Advice Service (CCMAS), providing emergency management advice to paramedics, doctors, and nurses, and coordinating high-risk interfacility transfers.
* Medical coordination and clinical support during mass casualty incidents and disasters.
* Supporting system-wide quality improvement through incident reviews, policy development, and health professional training.
The Role:
The Director of Medical Education and Training is a Specialist Medical Practitioner providing a specialist PHRM service, participating in shift-work and on-call rosters.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Collaborating with stakeholders to develop strategies for medical education and training for CCR.
* Coordinating and developing medical education and training to prepare and credential graduates for practice in PHRM.
* Ensuring recruitment, appointment, credentialing, and employment of medical staff comply with legislative and Award provisions.
* Assisting the Medical Director AMR in coordinating and evaluating Critical Care Services.
* Acting as Medical Director CCR when required.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part-time, shift work (fully rotational), including on call, 28.5 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.
*Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

Salary and Benefits:
Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1-3, $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro-rata, plus 11.5% superannuation and salary packaging options.
Access to additional allowances and benefits, including:
* Salary packaging (up to $9,010 for living expenses and $2,650 for meals and entertainment annually).
* Motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro-rata.
* Participation in Private Practice Scheme (35%) or allowance in lieu.
* Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 annually, pro-rata.
* Other leave entitlements, including study leave and professional development support.
* Fitness Passport for access to fitness facilities across Tasmania.
Essential criteria:
* Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
* Credentialing in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, or Intensive Care.
* Physical fitness and swimming ability suitable for pre-hospital environments, including helicopter underwater egress training (HUET).
* Current Driver’s Licence.
Desirable criteria:
* Qualification in Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine.
* Experience in teaching, research, quality improvement, and service development.
* Current work in a high-acuity clinical setting.
*Registration and licenses must remain current and valid; it is the employee’s responsibility to maintain these and notify the employer of any changes.
