About the Policy and International Section
The Policy & International section (P&I) of the Financial Stability Department advises on developments in overseas financial systems relevant to Australian financial stability; it seeks to contribute to the global regulatory policy debate and is responsible for developing and improving the Bank's frameworks for advice on domestic financial stability policy. In doing so, P&I collaborates with others across the department, the Bank and other domestic and international agencies to achieve the department's objectives and strategic priorities, which in turn support the Bank's objectives.
About the Role
The Financial Stability Department has an opportunity for a manager to lead the International Developments team within P&I. This is a part‐time role of 3 days per week where you will co‐lead the team with your job‐share partner. You will lead and develop the team and provide strategic and analytical guidance on assessing developments in overseas economies and financial systems with a focus on how they could affect, or inform understanding of, financial stability in Australia.
As a manager in the Policy & International section you will:
* Support the delivery of high‐quality analysis and policy advice to executives and the Board—especially important during stress events overseas and when lessons are drawn afterwards.
* Work closely with other sections in FS, other departments within the RBA and other government agencies.
* Coach your team and provide development opportunities to direct reports, helping them contribute to the department's objectives and strategic priorities.
Your background
* Strong people‐leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to nurture an inclusive culture and team‐based approach to work.
* Demonstrated analytical skills, and the ability to judge what issues are most important and to guide others on how best to answer analytical questions in a timely way.
* Strong communication skills, including the ability to identify key messages and lead the production of high‐quality briefings on a wide range of topics.
* Ability to reprioritise quickly as circumstances change and to work flexibly with section management to deliver the department's strategic priorities.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with other teams, and to liaise with government agencies and financial institutions.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
