We are partnering with an external client to appoint an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager (EEM) to a critical site-based role within an underground coal mining environment.
This position operates within the Governance & Technical Stewardship (G&TS) function and is accountable for electrical engineering governance, statutory compliance, and risk management across the operation. The role works closely with senior site leadership and holds (or is eligible to hold) the Electrical Engineering Manager statutory position.
About the Role
This is a performance-driven statutory engineering leadership role focused on electrical governance, assurance, and risk control rather than project delivery alone. You will act as the site's technical authority for electrical engineering, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and internal engineering frameworks.

* Strong governance over change, assurance, and asset management
* Visible leadership in safety-critical electrical environments
Accountabilities
* Fulfilment of the Electrical Engineering Manager statutory role (or readiness to be appointed)
* Championing Management of Change (MoC) processes, including G&TS pre-reviews
* Review and approval of electrical documentation at site and asset level
* Administration and review of the Intelics register (electrical discipline)
* Electrical design, schematic, and drawing reviews
* Provision of electrical technical guidance aligned with approved standards, procedures, and legislation
* Support of RS23, including Stage 3 WRACs and electrical risk reviews
Electrical Risk Ownership
* Accountable owner for critical electrical risks, including:
* High voltage and low voltage systems
* Stored electrical energy
* Isolation and earthing systems
* Electrical ignition and explosion risks in underground coal environments
Statutory & Operational Leadership
* Electrical dossier review and oversight of site engineering processes
* Multi work permit sign-offs and isolations governance
* Incident review, investigation, and regulatory support
* Attendance at risk assessments and WRACs as the statutory EEM
* Day-to-day electrical technical support and decision-making
* Coordination with site leadership, maintenance, and engineering teams
General Site Engagement
* Participation in BOS processes and meetings
* Field leadership and visible safety leadership
* Hazard identification and verification of critical controls
* Structured problem-solving activities
* Attendance at crew end-of-swing and start-of-swing safe starts
About You
You are a statutory-focused electrical engineer with strong underground coal experience and the confidence to make high-consequence engineering decisions in a safety-critical environment.
You will bring:
* A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (degree or trade-based pathway acceptable)
* Minimum 5 years' experience in mining, preferably underground coal
* Eligibility for appointment as an Electrical Engineering Manager
* Strong background in electrical maintenance, engineering, or operational support

* Previous underground coal mining experience
* Current or previous statutory EEM appointment
* HV systems experience
