About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead our Kitchen Team and contribute to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a high-performing kitchen team, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of service. This includes preparing work rosters, fostering a customer-first culture, and utilising customer feedback to improve the dining experience.
A strong culinary background, with knowledge in food preparation, recipe consistency, and maintaining high food quality across all kitchen stations, is essential for this role.
This opportunity also requires excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations and coordinate effectively between kitchen and front-of-house teams.
Key Qualifications and Responsibilities:
* Proven leadership experience in managing and motivating a kitchen team
* Strong culinary skills and knowledge in food preparation, recipe consistency, and maintaining high food quality
* Ability to foster a customer-first culture and utilise customer feedback to improve the dining experience
* Financial acumen, with the ability to manage kitchen costs, achieve revenue targets, and meet budgeted goals
* Proficient in recipe and menu management software
* Experience in rostering and labour cost control
* Strong administrative and organisational skills
* Experience in maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, WHS standards, and legal obligations within kitchen operations
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations and coordinate effectively between kitchen and front-of-house teams
* Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and ensure smooth operations during peak service periods
* Demonstrated ability to develop and train kitchen staff, identify skill gaps, and encourage professional growth within the team
* A proactive and solutions-focused approach to managing customer needs and ensuring a positive and memorable dining experience
* Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and operational excellence in the kitchen, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and/or Kitchen Management
* Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a fast-paced kitchen environment
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment
