About the opportunity

The University of Sydney is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Program Manager to lead and manage the operational aspects of the Snow Vision Accelerator (SVA) - a cutting-edge drug discovery and development program focused on transforming glaucoma treatment. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing program operations, financial management, governance, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and the execution of research agreements. The Program Manager will play a central role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams across academia, industry, and clinical settings to ensure smooth and successful delivery of the program.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

* Direct and manage the execution of day-to-day operations critical to the success of the Snow Vision Accelerator program.

* Develop, oversee, and report on complex program budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and transparency.

* Establish and maintain efficient operational processes to support the SVA's research, drug discovery, and development goals.

* Support the drafting, negotiation, and execution of Research Collaboration Agreements, Intellectual Property (IP) Agreements, and funding contracts in collaboration with the University's legal and contracts teams.

* Engage with academic researchers, university administration, and external stakeholders, including biotech and pharmaceutical partners, to facilitate productive collaborations.

* Prepare comprehensive reports for funding bodies, governance committees, and university leadership.

* Ensure compliance with University policies, research governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements related to biomedical research and drug development.

* Implement and maintain project management systems to monitor milestones, deliverables, and risks across SVA projects.

* Contribute to recruitment and talent acquisition efforts for program roles, including research and industry-facing positions.

* Represent the SVA at University and external meetings, workshops, and industry engagements.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

* Proven experience working with academic researchers, university administration, and within research governance frameworks.

* Experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing Research Collaboration Agreements, IP Agreements, and related contracts.

* Demonstrated project management expertise, including planning, execution, and risk oversight across complex, multidisciplinary initiatives.

* Strong track record in managing complex budgets, financial operations, and strategic planning in academic or research-intensive environments.

* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage a broad range of stakeholders.

* In-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to biomedical research and drug development.

Desirable

* Understanding of university technology transfer, commercialisation processes, and engagement with industry.

* Background in biomedical research, life sciences, or a related discipline.

* Experience managing large-scale, multi-institutional research programs.

* Exposure to drug discovery and development in academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical environments.

Qualifications

A postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, PhD, or equivalent) is essential. A degree or diploma in business administration, accounting, project management, life sciences, or a related field is desirable.
