The Team:

The trauma service is a multidisciplinary team responsible for the management of injured patients. The team oversees trauma system governance, the Tasmanian trauma registry, continuous trauma quality improvement, trauma research and workforce development at the Royal Hobart Hospital. In collaboration with the Director of Trauma and Nurse Manager, the data coordinator will facilitate and coordinate data collection for the trauma registry and ensure timely reporting to the Australian and New Zealand Trauma Registry.

The Role:

* Obtains authorised data from various hospital information systems and hospital medical records to identify patients who fulfil clinical quality registry criteria
* Accurately initiates and enters relevant data into a web-based registry in a standardised and confidential fashion
* Ensures timely data entry and audit of data to ensure accuracy
* Adheres to State and National coding practice, relevant classifications and Abbreviated Injury Scale Scoring
* Identifies and sends data to approved hospital, state and national authorities as directed
* Participates in and enters data for defined research studies and audit in partnership with the Research nurse, Nurse Manager and Director of Trauma
* Participates as an integral member of the Quality Improvement Program
* Participates in professional development to assure skills and knowledge of trauma patient information practices
* Prepares periodical and ad-hoc reports
* Responsible for all technical inquiries related to the Clinical Quality Registry
* Communicates information appropriately to other team members and participates in meetings as required

You will need:

* Demonstrated clinical experience in the relevant practice area, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative, and work with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to understand the business of the unit/service in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within a contemporary healthcare framework.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Eligibility:

* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications; Experience in either surgical, burns, critical care or emergency nursing; Experience in data management or within a clinical research environment.
