Overview
Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consulting / Drilling & Construction Materials Testing company working on civil and mining infrastructure projects throughout Australia. The role is for a Graduate/Junior Geophysicist to work on road, rail and mine infrastructure projects across Australia (focused in Recent South Wales, Victoria & Queensland) with potential international work. The position is based out of the Sydney office with travel to onsite project work. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
Assist with the collection of geophysical surveys including Seismic Refraction, MASW, Electrical Resistivity, Magnetics, Ground Penetrating Radar, and Electromagnetics.
Undertake downhole geophysical logging surveys with a range of techniques.
Assist with processing, drafting, and reporting of geophysical datasets.
Engage in the maintenance and safe operation of geophysical equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor Degree of Science majoring in Geophysics or Geology.
Numerical, analytical and observational skills.
Ability to problem solve.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work within a team environment.
Preferably familiar with geophysical acquisition and processing software including but not limited to: Rayfract, ParkSeis, Oasis Montaj (Geosoft), Res2DInv, Seis Imager 2D, ReflexW and WellCAD.
A current driver licence.
Valid working rights in Australia.
Ability to pass a 'fit to work' medical & regular drug and alcohol screening.
