The Ophthalmology Department provides an active teaching and research program in conjunction with the University of Tasmania.The unaccredited ophthalmology registrar roster includes subspecialty and general ophthalmology clinics, laser clinics, injection clinics and operating theatre sessions. The registrar will work in a team with 3 accredited Ophthalmology trainees and take part in the 1 in 4 after-hours on-call roster.$134,930 - $189,005 per annumSalary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022ClassificationMedical Practitioner Level 5-11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar)Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022AwardMedical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) AwardPeriod of EmploymentFixed term, full time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training time (pro rata), commencing 2 February 2026 until 1 February 2027.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.The Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day management of public and private inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility and the provision of after-hours emergency care as determined by the relevant work unit.General or limited registration with the Medical Board of AustraliaCurrent Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
