Discover more via our website. Your next career opportunity In this role, you will engineer and operate cloud-native platforms supporting national life science research services. Contribute to and take ownership of key OpenStack and AWS infrastructure, from Kubernetes clusters to CI/CD automation. You will collaborate with developers, bioinformaticians, and partners to deliver secure, scalable environments for cutting-edge science. What you will deliver: Operate and enhance OpenStack and AWS environments, including Kubernetes clusters, networking, storage, identity, and security controls. Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and AWS CDK to deploy multi-tenant, production research platforms. Develop automation, scripts, and reusable tooling in Python or TypeScript/Node.js to streamline operations and platform workflows. Administer CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, improving build, test, deployment reliability and observability across services. Collaborate with national partners on deployments, incident response, upgrades, and roadmap activities for core BioCommons platforms. You may be a great fit if you: Hold a relevant degree in computer science, software engineering, IT, or equivalent professional experience. Demonstrate hands-on experience operating production OpenStack and/or AWS environments, including compute, networking, and object storage. Apply solid knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker workflows to support containerised applications across research and commercial clouds. Use Terraform and/or CDK or CloudFormation to model, deploy, and manage infrastructure-as-code for complex platforms. Write maintainable automation and tooling in Python or TypeScript/Node.js, integrating with cloud services and workflows. Manage CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging using tools such as GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
