The Organisation
The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) is a non-government organisation working
to eliminate sexual violence against women, young people, children and men. Our mission is to be an active, visible catalyst for social change through the provision of high-quality
services within a trauma-informed framework.
We provide confidential counselling and practical support for victim- survivors of sexual violence and their supporters. We support anyone who has experienced any form of sexual assault, sexual harassment and childhood sexual abuse.
We offer immediate crisis intervention appointments and provide a 24-hour crisis callout service every day of the year through the Forensic and Medical Sexual Assault Care (FAMSAC) and/or Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) services.
Our crisis phone support is available from 7am until 11pm, 7 days a week
Job Summary
The CSA Link Worker engages proactively with ACT medical practitioners (including general practices) and allied health providers to build relationships, deliver training on sexual violence (SV) and child sexual abuse (CSA), and promote resources that strengthen the primary healthcare sector’s ability to recognise, respond and refer victim-survivors to medical, legal and other specialist support services in the ACT.
Program Objectives:
· Strengthen partnership and trust between primary care and the FDSV sector.
· Build the primary health care workforce’s capability to support victim-survivors of SV and CSA.
· Increase understanding of primary health care’s role, and confidence to recognise and respond to SV and CSA.
· Increase referrals from primary health care to specialist SV and CSA support services.
· Improve navigation of health services for victim-survivors of SV and CSA.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building and Stakeholder Engagement
· Build and maintain relationships with participating general practices and allied health providers, including scheduling and attending regular practice visits.
Logistics
● Schedule practice visits, training sessions and other meetings with practices as required.
● Arrange catering for training sessions as required.
● Prepare required materials (e.g., notes, projector and training packs) for each session.
Training
● Collaborate with the CHN Family Safety Team and other stakeholders to develop tailored, accredited SV, CSA and other relevant training.
● Deliver engaging training for professional adult audiences.
Data and reporting
● Collect and store data in line with CRCC policies and relevant privacy requirements.
● Use the Customer Relationship Management platform and Excel templates to monitor and report data.
● Prepare regular reporting.
● Identify options for sustainable changes that support victim-survivors of SV in primary healthcare over time.
● Undertake other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
● Qualified Social Worker, Psychologist or Counsellor, or equivalent relevant experience.
● Experience in adult education, training or facilitation.
● Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions.
● Ability to work collaboratively and model respectful relationships with colleagues and clients.
● Current Australian driver licence.
● Current Working With Vulnerable People registration.
Other requirements
· Training will be delivered at flexible times (early morning, late afternoon and weekends) where required.
· Training will be delivered at practice locations across Canberra (reimbursement for travel costs is provided).
Special Conditions
Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) ACT (2011) legislation requires that
the preferred applicant will be required to hold a current and valid “Working with Vulnerable
People' registration as proof of suitable employment screening and background checks.
