Role
As a member of the Retail Technology (Everyday Banking Domain), you will contribute to the technology products and services we deliver, from architecture, technical design and coding to deployment and operation. Your work will support the E2E Service Journey crew, responsible for the Disputes Journey, the Deceased Estates and Authorities Journeys.
We are seeking a Staff Engineer with a strong front‐end engineering background to lead technical excellence and delivery maturity for the Authorities squad, supporting the NetBank Next platform. This is a senior technical leadership role, ideal for someone who combines deep web UI expertise (Next.js, React, Node.js) with hands‐on delivery, architecture leadership, and a passion for mentoring in a regulated, customer‐centric environment.
Responsibilities
* Possess full‐cycle engineering experience: ideation, technical design, build, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.
* Architect, design, and develop robust solutions; lead by example in coding, code reviews, and deployment.
* Own decisions on UI architecture (routing, rendering, state management), component design, and design system adoption for NetBank Next.
* Set and evolve squad technical direction, ensuring alignment with NetBank Next frameworks and modern engineering standards.
* Actively embrace and integrate AI‐driven solutions (including LLMs and agentic AI approaches) to enhance engineering workflows and product capabilities.
* Provide technical governance and guidance throughout the complete solution delivery lifecycle.
* Work independently and drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed.
* Be passionate about learning new tools and technologies and constantly think outside the box.
Qualifications
* Strong front‐end engineering background with Next.js, React, Node.js.
* Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, component design, and design system adoption.
* Hands‐on experience delivering complex web UI solutions in regulated, customer‐centric environments.
* Leadership experience, mentoring junior engineers, and driving technical excellence.
Technical Skills
* Languages & Frameworks: Next.js, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, C#, .NET Core, GraphQL, REST APIs, microservices, containerization.
* Frontend Tooling: Vite/webpack, Babel/tsc, ESLint/Prettier, Storybook, Playwright/Cypress, Jest/RTL, Lighthouse/WebPageTest, bundle analyzers.
* Design System & Accessibility: Design tokens, ARIA patterns, semantic HTML, accessibility testing (axe), WCAG 2.2 AA.
* Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), feature flags, canary/blue‐green deployments.
* Observability: Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Frontend RUM, error tracking (Sentry or equivalent).
* Security: CSP, Subresource Integrity, OAuth/OIDC flows, session management, secure storage, threat modeling.
* Data & Events: Relational (Postgres, Oracle), NoSQL (MongoDB), data lakes, event‐driven architectures (Kafka, MQ).
* Quality & Testing: Establish frontend testing strategy (unit, integration, contract, visual regression, e2e) and promote CI for web.
