Position Information
Yass High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing school close to Canberra with an enrolment that has varied around 585 in **** with 11% Aboriginal students. The school benefits from strong community relationships and is committed to a personalised success pathway for every student.

We have a Trade Centre for vocational courses such as Metals, Timber and Hospitality which is a popular career direction for many students. Our Agriculture farm enables students to learn the skills relating to animal management and horticulture, both very appropriate to our rural setting. Our growing Support Unit includes three Learning Hub classes and a SLC (Supported Learning Centre). Yass High School also has a stage 5 pathways programs to support students to transition to the workforce.

Specific Selection Criteria
Demonstrated capacity to lead the Science faculty to deliver high quality, evidence informed and inclusive teaching and learning programs that build engagement, support high expectations and meet individual needs of students.
Proven ability to lead and manage a team with diverse teaching experience, demonstrating capacity to collaboratively engage and inspire teachers to adopt innovative pedagogy and to inspire the potential of all students.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the executive team to drive continuous improvement and strategically lead the school towards excellence across all domains of the School Excellence Framework.
General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
