In this role you will develop and maintain C#/.NET web applications and APIs deployed to IIS and backed by SQL Server, operating in a Defence environment where releases are governed by structured change control, security review, and auditability requirements. You will work closely with sustainment SMEs and data/analytics specialists to deliver reliable, secure, maintainable capabilities.
Key responsibilities:
* Enhance and sustain C#/.NET web applications and services (including legacy components) in line with approved specifications and secure coding practices.
* Design, build and maintain RESTful APIs and integration services (where authorised) to support controlled data exchange and future capability uplift
* Implement and maintain security controls including authentication/authorisation (RBAC), input validation, and audit logging to support Defence compliance obligations.
* Develop and maintain SQL Server data access code and incremental schema migration scripts; troubleshoot and optimise performance issues.
* Operate within structured DevOps and release practices: Git/Azure DevOps, code reviews, automated builds/tests, packaging and controlled promotion through environments.
* Support deployments into secure environments (including any offline packaging/transfer requirements), validation checks, rollback planning and post-deployment verification.
* Participate in vulnerability and patch management activities including dependency updates, triage and remediation tracking.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation (design notes, runbooks, release notes, test evidence) to support sustainment and audit needs.
Skills/Experience:
* 3+ years of professional C#/.NET web development experience
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to create clear support documentation and training materials.
* Strong experience with ASP.NET (MVC/Web API) and comfort working across legacy .NET Framework and newer .NET components.
* Strong SQL Server/T-SQL skills and experience managing schema changes with version-controlled migration scripts.
* Experience with Git and Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Work items); comfortable with peer review and automated test practices.
* Experience working in regulated or high-assurance environments with strong documentation, change control and audit requirements.
* Desirable: PowerShell scripting; familiarity supporting data/analytics integrations (e.g. SSIS/Power BI interfaces).
Security/clearance:
You must be an Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA security clearance (Baseline or higher). Work is performed in secure Defence environments and requires compliance with Defence ICT policies, controlled change governance and audit-ready governance.
