Official Visitor to Orana Youth Justice Centre
The Official Visitor is an essential role in the youth justice system, providing a vital link between the community and the centre.
As an Official Visitor, you will be responsible for visiting assigned centres regularly to speak with children, staff and management. You will also record and report on complaints, enquiries and the centre environment.
Your role will involve facilitating resolution of local issues where possible and submitting reports to the Minister, Inspector of Custodial Services and relevant authorities.
Key skills and qualifications:
* Ability to remain impartial and act with integrity
* Cultural awareness and experience working with Aboriginal and diverse communities
* Basic computer literacy and access to email/internet

* Preferring candidates with Aboriginal background residing in the region
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Essential requirements:
* Report-writing and computer skills with internet access
* Willingness to travel for training or corporate activities 1–2 times per year
