Senior Controls EngineerLocation: Brisbane QLD, AustraliaJob Description: The Senior Controls Engineer will play a crucial role in both the product design and project delivery of the business. At the front-end, the role will be primarily responsible for product design of Pixii Energy management systems integrating Pixii technology into customer infrastructure, ensuring that we help our customers achieve project goals. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Control engineering, renewable energy, High voltage DC Battery systems automation, and control systems, be an RPEQ, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills. This role will focus on designing, developing, and commissioning advanced control systems for battery energy storage, hybrid renewable energy solutions, and grid integration projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Codesys-based PLCs, industrial communication protocols, and high-voltage battery systems.The Senior Controls Engineer will work in a hyper-growth environment and must be comfortable with high pace. In addition, the role will have good opportunities to influence and create results in the company's international growth.Responsibilities:Design and develop PLC based Control systems using Codesys for various projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client specifications.Create and maintain IO lists, communication diagrams, functional descriptions, network diagrams using relevant software tools.Develop user-friendly HMIs for energy storage and power management applications.Design and develop energy storage products using HVDC and LVDC batteries and inverters.Design and integrate HVDC and LVDC battery systems, inverters, solar, and generators for both on-grid and off-grid applications.Consistently interface with the client and configure/integrate Pixii products to meet project goals.Collaborate with project teams, providing technical expertise and support throughout the project life cycle.Perform control system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs as needed.Develop and implement testing and commissioning plans for electrical and control systems, ensuring system performance meets project requirements.Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and user manuals.Provide training and technical support to clients, end-users, and other team members as required.Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to electrical engineering and control systems.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.10+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably within the renewable energy, oil & gas, mining, or construction industries.Preferred RPEQ registration in the field of Electrical Engineering.Held a senior position in Control engineering in previous company.Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI development, and control system integration.Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or PROFINET, MQTT.Strong knowledge of High voltage battery systems.Strong knowledge of generator integration, grid connections.Strong knowledge of NEM and operational requirements of battery systems.Proficiency in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools.Experience with industry standards and regulations.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.Willingness to travel as required for project meetings, site visits, and commissioning activities.
