Offer description

The position of Administration Officer – Interpreter Services will support the delivery of interpreter services to Queensland Health clients who are not proficient in English or who are deaf or hearing impaired. The position will coordinate the booking, confirmation and verification of interpreter bookings across the services within the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Services. The role will also offer the opportunity to upskill and relieve the Job Share (2x0.5FTE) Team Leader role to cover holidays and emergent leave.

About The Team

Interpreter Services provides support across Children's Health Queensland (CHQ), including QCH, CYCHS and CYMHS community sites. Our services extend beyond interpreting to include document translation. We support over 130 languages, including Auslan and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.

About The Role

In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

To provide excellent customer focus in a friendly and helpful manner, maintain the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with parents and patients, members of the public and departmental staff both in person, over the telephone (which will include liaising via "conference call" with an interpreter to confirm appointments and complete/update HBCIS details), and via email.
Maintain well developed skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications, HBCIS, ESM, the Interpreter Management System (IMS) and CHIRPs Dashboard to assist with the booking of interpreters for Children's Health Queensland. This includes accurate allocation of interpreter booking requests to multiple service providers both external and via our in-house interpreter.
Ability to adapt to a constant and time sensitive environment in a very process driven role where competing tasks will need to be prioritised.
Monitor bookings and requests in IMS, including acting on changes, reallocations, confirmations in a timely manner, and working with our in-house interpreter for ad-hoc requests. This may include liaising with several providers regarding the availability of certified interpreters for service delivery and liaising with requesters in relation to interpreter availability.
