We are now seeking a full-time Accountant to join our team in Brighton, providing professional accounting and business support services to our valued clients.
Position Duties
As part of our Business Services team, you will:
* Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals across various industries.
* Manage GST, CGT, FBT, Div 7A, and other tax compliance matters, ensuring all lodgments are completed accurately and on time with the ATO.
* Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, payroll tax, and other statutory returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Conduct financial analysis and reporting on profitability, margins, cash flow, and expenditure to support business decision-making.
* Support clients in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to assist with strategic financial planning and control.
* Review business costs, analyse revenue patterns, and assess financial performance to identify areas for improvement.
* Provide tax and financial advisory services on business structures, acquisitions, and restructuring opportunities.
* Implement and manage accounting systems and digital solutions, ensuring accurate data management and efficient reporting.
* Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and professional standards.
* Manage bookkeeping tasks including accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and new entity setups.
* Collaborate with external auditors, banks, and financial advisors to facilitate funding, investment, and compliance matters.
* Prepare financial projections and assess financial risks to support client investment and financing decisions.
* Assist clients with tax planning and year-end strategies to optimize tax outcomes and business performance.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, timely reporting, and professional advice.
* Undertake ad hoc accounting, compliance, and advisory tasks as required to support client and firm objectives.
Essential Skills & Experience Required
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
* Completed or near completion of CA/CPA qualification (desirable).
* Minimum 2–3 years' professional accounting experience, preferably within public practice, covering financial reporting, taxation, and compliance.
* Strong background in preparing financial statements, managing budgets, cash flow, and providing compliance and tax support for a diverse client base.
* Proficient in accounting and tax software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, HandiTax, APS, and MS Excel, with the ability to adapt quickly to new digital systems and reporting platforms.
* Solid understanding of Australian accounting standards, GST, and tax principles, with experience using cloud-based accounting and document management systems.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; multilingual ability (Mandarin, Cantonese) will be highly regarded for servicing a diverse clientele.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple clients, and meet tight deadlines.
* Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, and to liaise effectively with auditors, financial institutions, and regulators.
