Textile Technical Officer - Product Development

We are currently looking to fill the role of Textile Technical Officer - Product Development based in Wangaratta.
Australian Textile Mills Pty Ltd is a producer of advanced textiles for Defence, Emergency services etc. producing technical, decorative and home textiles.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be self-motivated with positive behaviours to work and lead in a collaborative team environment.
* Relevant tertiary qualification or work experience
* Technical knowledge and a good understanding of preparation, dyeing and coloration of fabric in both batch and continuous dyeing
* Knowledge of textile fibres, yarn manufacturing, weaving structure, dyeing, printing, and finishing processes
* Advanced knowledge of textile quality control principles and techniques
* Good colour vision (munsell hue test, minimum of 80% in each section)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that textile materials meet required standards and assisting in product development and quality assurance processes.
* Collaborate research with designers, textile technologists, and manufacturers to transform product concepts into prototypes and market-ready products
* Comparing textile materials and products to standards and specifications
* Collecting and analysing samples of raw materials, semi-finished and finished textile products to identify defect and assess compliance with Australian and international standards
* Create detailed Product Development Requests (PDRs) for new projects, including design specs, testing plans, timelines, and requirements
* Provide monthly updates on development progress
* Build and maintain networks for researching fabrics structures and finishing techniques
* Assist in resolving quality-related issues during scale-up and production trials
* Create and manage Product Data Sheets and performance information
* Input new product information into the APM Database (yarn codes, styles, processes, etc.)
* Contribute to continuous improvement projects in product development and manufacturing processes
* Track time and costs for each product development project
* Adjusting methods to overcome obstacles
Remuneration
A remuneration package of $85,000 - $90,000 + super will be offered to the successful candidate.
