ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer (R&D/Prototyping) SALARY - $100,000 - $110,000 per annum, dependent on experience TYPE – Permanent LOCATION – Sydney, NSW
My client designs and manufactures a range of bespoke equipment in a high-tech sector. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with excellent hands‐on skills in R&D, testing and prototyping to join their team in the Sydney area on a permanent basis.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
* At least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 etc.
* Strong practical skills with R&D, prototyping, testing, FEA, hand calculations, verification and validation
* Proven ability to take a product all the way from concept through to manufacture
* Previous experience working with a variety of materials including sheet metal, machined parts and injection molded plastics
* Good theoretical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
* Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
* Able to work well individually as well as part of a team
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
* Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
* Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production
* Collaborating with different departments to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
* Liasing with manufacturing providers
* Being involved in final assembly
* Creating required documentation for design and project reports
* Updating 3D models and drawings
* Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for sign off
* Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
