Job Description
The Max Planck DNA Biofoundry is a state-of-the-art facility for the design and part-based assembly of DNA constructs. Our team seeks to advance technological possibilities in synthetic microbiology by developing high-throughput liquid robot handling platforms and DNA design-assembly-validation pipelines.
You will lead a team to operate this central facility, focusing on the automatized construction, assembly, and screening of DNA constructs. This includes the application of advanced genetic engineering methods, computer-aided DNA design and manufacturing, and lab automation systems.
Your Role
* Lead a team to operate the DNA Biofoundry
* Develop and implement high-throughput liquid robot handling platforms
* Design and validate DNA constructs using computer-aided methods
This role requires strong leadership skills, a PhD in a relevant field, and experience in DNA assembly and synthetic biology. Experience with lab automation and information management systems is highly desired.

We seek a skilled professional who can interact with scientists from various backgrounds, is team-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative research environment. The position is initially limited to five years but can be extended based on performance.
