Hydro Tasmania:
* Australia's leading clean energy business with more than 50 major dams and 30 operating hydro power stations across regional Tasmania. It also owns the Tamar Valley gas-fired power station.

* Hydro Tasmania has a 25% share in Woolnorth Wind Farm Holding Pty Ltd which operates the Musselroe, Studland Bay and Bluff Point wind farms in Tasmania.

Our electricity and gas retailer serving business and residential customers across the National Electricity Market (excluding Tasmania). Staff are based in Melbourne and Hobart.

What this role will offer you?
As Australia's energy sector undergoes unprecedented transformation, we are seeking expressions of interest from candidates with deep energy markets expertise to join Hydro Tasmania's Board. You will work with the Chairperson, Board, and executive team to navigate the complex National Electricity Market landscape while ensuring Hydro Tasmania balances commercial excellence with its public interest obligations for the benefit of all Tasmanians.
What Hydro Tasmania is looking for?
You'll be a person of impeccable professional integrity, with an established and credible reputation as a strategic leader in the energy sector. Sophisticated stakeholder engagement skills, collaborative style, and commitment to safety and sustainability will be essential skills and personal qualities.
In addition, you'll be expected to have skills and experience in some of the following areas:
* Energy Knowledge: Demonstrated senior experience in energy trading, retailing, power system operations or major asset project development, operations and maintenance, with a sound understanding of National Electricity Market (NEM) dynamics
* Strategic Leadership: Proven track record in senior executive or board roles in utilities, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors
* Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial and financial management experience
* Governance Excellence: High standard of integrity and demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct in corporate governance
* Risk Management: Experience in identifying, assessing, and managing complex operational, market or asset risks.
Highly Desirable:
* Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) course or equivalent
* Experience with renewable energy development, storage technologies, or system integration
* Knowledge of energy policy, regulation, and market design
* Experience in energy markets and retail
* Experience in operational asset management
* Experience in building a portfolio of long-term wholesale energy contracts
* Operating and managing a large fleet of generation assets
* Trading in the NEM's spot and short-term contract markets
* Experience in government or public sector enterprises
* Familiarity with Tasmanian energy sector, political environment and community expectations.

Term
This appointment will be as a non-executive director for an initial term of 3 years with appointment by the Governor-in-Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Energy and Renewables and the Treasurer.
