The JJ Unit Trust No. 1, trading as Longboard Bar and Grill, is a beachfront venue positioned along The Strand in Townsville, QLD.
With breathtaking ocean views, a strong seafood‑led menu, premium cocktail offering and the venue's energetic coastal vibe, live entertainment program, and broad dining appeal underpin a consistently high service demand. Longboard Bar and Grill is seeking full‑time Cooks to enhance its kitchen capability and support consistent service delivery. These roles are critical to maintaining daily production standards, upholding food quality benchmarks, and ensuring operational continuity.
The venue requires Cooks who can execute menu items with precision, collaborate effectively with senior kitchen leadership, and reinforce a stable, performance‑driven back‑of‑house team. These positions offer a competitive salary package of 70–80K AUD per annum plus superannuation, with final remuneration aligned to experience and operational fit.
* Regularly measure, prepare, cook, and season various foods according to the menu.
* Select high‑quality ingredients and oversee precise portioning, plating, and presentation to consistently maintain established culinary standards.
* Ensuring proper storage per controlled temperature guidelines.
* Season dishes correctly during the cooking process to enhance flavour.
* Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure they meet established standards.
* Assess food items to ensure they meet quality and safety criteria.
* Cook orders in compliance with food health and safety standards & dietary requirements.
* Assist senior chefs by executing their direction into consistently high‑quality dishes, maintaining efficiency and precision across all sections of the kitchen.
* Routine kitchen operations, including stock rotation, and necessary paperwork on a daily basis.
* Set up and organise workstations efficiently.
* Prepare ovens, utensils, and grills for shifts.
* Mitigating food wastage, maximising yield from food products.
* Maintain a strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) and HACCP protocols.
To be considered for this role, you should
* Certificates III & IV in Commercial Cookery from Australia
* Have at least 2 years of work experience as a cook in a similar cuisine
* Good knowledge of occupational health and safety (WHS) and HACCP.
* Ability to work in a team.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Be willing to relocate if you are interstate or in other cities.
