What will your typical day look like?
We are seeking an Associate Director with comprehensive experience across Higher Education, demonstrating a deep understanding of the Australian higher education landscape, including university value drivers, operating environments, models, and the evolving competitive landscape across public and private providers, TAFEs, and emerging global education models.
You will bring knowledge of university functions, including key services, research activities, partnerships, and operational strategies across academic and enterprise areas.
A solid grasp of how trends and technological advances, such as artificial intelligence, are reshaping the sector is essential, along with the ability to translate this into strategic, actionable recommendations addressing sector complexity and client needs.
Preferred experience includes strategy, operating models, performance, and leadership in technology and business transformation programs.
As an Associate Director, your responsibilities may include: Leading and overseeing the daily operations of project teams, owning project direction and outcomes.
Managing client relationships within the higher education sector and proactively building new relationships.
Using your strategy expertise to collaborate with clients and solve key business challenges.
Leading project management activities, including financial management and risk mitigation.
Assisting with defining project scopes and requirements.
Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and contributing to proposal development.
Coaching and mentoring junior team members and supporting their career development.
Contributing to practice growth through thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and supporting recruitment and onboarding.

About you You likely hold a tertiary degree with an outstanding academic record and have demonstrated strategy consulting experience within a Tier 1 firm, a strategy boutique, or a university strategy team.
You possess exceptional quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with mature judgment.
Effective communication skills and the ability to build trust with senior stakeholders (DVC, C-suite) are essential.
You have a proven track record of influencing, driving outcomes, and developing new opportunities.
Leadership experience, mentoring capabilities, and a history of creating effective work environments that enable team success are also important.
