The Centre for Learning and Teaching
The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) contributes to the leadership and implementation of strategic teaching and learning and change across the University through collaborative partnerships with Schools and Service Centres. CLT provisions professional learning for all teaching roles in the University to promote evidenced based and scholarly practice.
Additionally, CLT leads the implementation of learning technologies across the University, delivery of learning support programs for students, and active support of Schools to deliver best practice curriculum design and assessment.
About the Opportunity
The Centre is seeking a Senior Learning Designer who is passionate about supporting academic and professional staff to enhance the student learning experience and ensure student success. The successful candidate/s will demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in applying effective curriculum and learning design principles and strategies for consistent quality in a higher education setting.
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate considerable project management skills, judgement, initiative, discretion and independence while interacting with professional and academic staff. Your ability to support academic teaching staff in whole-of-course learning and curriculum design, assessment and activity design, engaging content design, are key to success in this position.
About you
Suitable candidates will meet the following key selection criteria:
Masters degree or higher qualification in relevant field (e.g. Learning Sciences, Education, Instructional Design) or demonstrated equivalence;
Ability to apply learning design principles and evidence-based approaches to improve learning outcomes and support active and engaged learning in unit and course design;
Experience supporting a team of academic staff to transform their curriculum and practice with high quality, engaging, and innovative approaches appropriate for online and face-to-face teaching;
Demonstrated commitment to learning and supporting staff to use emerging technologies; new pedagogical approaches; and sound assessment practices to enhance the teaching and learning experience;
Strong communication skills, especially interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and organisational staff and management at all levels.
Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team, to accommodate and work well with different working styles and to work independently where required.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.
