Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for three years.
Duties
* Design, implement, and monitor evidence-based strength and conditioning programs tailored to the goals and needs of TIS athletes, incorporating principles of adaptation, periodisation, tapering, and rehabilitation.
* Deliver hands-on support in the daily training environment across Hobart and Launceston, as well as at camps, competitions, and other venues as required.
* Build strong working relationships with athletes to understand their development goals and challenges, and tailor programming accordingly.
* Apply data analytics and sport technology to monitor progress, inform decision-making, and adapt training plans in real time.
* Collaborate with coaches and the TIS medical network to reduce injury risk and support athlete performance and recovery.
* Support coaches to apply sport science principles in planning, monitoring, and athlete feedback.
* Contribute to coach education and performance team initiatives that promote a consistent, evidence-informed approach.
* Maintain a safe, functional, and well-equipped training environment.
* Support the identification and development of emerging talent, including delivery of TIS2032 Talent ID initiatives across Tasmania.
* Ensure all activities comply with TIS Safeguarding and Child Safe Policies.
* Identify and nurture emerging talent within the athlete pool, working alongside other performance staff to assist in the delivery of TIS2032 talent identification activities across the state.
* Ensure all activities undertaken align with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Childsafe Policy and Procedures.
Essential Requirements
Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:
* Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
* Successful completion of Sport Integrity Australia’s Ethical Decision Making & Introduction to Match Fixing online education modules.
* Level 1 Australian Strength & Conditioning Association (ASCA) Accreditation.
* Tertiary qualifications in exercise science, sport science, or a related discipline.
* Current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.
Desirable Requirements
* First Aid Certificate (Workplace 2 – Senior First Aid).
* Honours, Masters or PhD in Exercise, Health, Sport Science or related field specialising in the area of Physical Development.
