As a Line Layout Design Engineer, you'll support connecting more than five million Queenslanders and 241,000 businesses to a world-class energy future.
Responsibilities
Lead transmission line layout design services, ensuring cost-effective, safe and compliant solutions across all project phases—from concept to commissioning.
Act as the Responsible Person for design scoping, budgets and timeframes, providing expert advice and decision-making support to project teams.
Own Powerlink's PLS-CADD platform, including training and mentoring staff, maintaining technical criteria and libraries, and advancing the use of software and LIDAR technology.
Coach, mentor and collaborate with team members and contractors to lift capability and maintain high-quality design outputs.

As part of our Design Solutions group, you'll join a team dedicated to delivering excellence in Major Projects Design, based between our Virginia and Bowen Hills locations.

What You'll Bring
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Civil/Structural/Mechanical)
You'll bring specialist expertise in transmission line layout design with proven experience using PLS-CADD to deliver complex 3D design solutions.
A thorough understanding of conductor mechanics, material strengths and project cost drivers; proficiency with AutoCAD; and practical experience with engineering survey methods, including LIDAR, GPS and total station equipment.
You'll also bring strong project delivery skills—from scoping and estimating through to implementation—ensuring outcomes are cost-effective, constructible and compliant with industry standards.
Most importantly, you'll have a collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring others.
