Applied Robotics is seeking a Senior Solutions Design Engineer to join our team. As a leader in industrial automation and the robotics integration space, we are looking for a senior solutions engineer who is passionate about transforming intricate client needs into innovative, tangible solutions and working in a highly collaborative team. In this senior role, you will own the end-to-end solution design process through lead qualification to final tender submission. You will lead and collaborate with a team of junior and mid‐level engineers.
Role Description
As a member of the solutions team, you'll be a vital part of a collaborative group including Business Development Managers, Solution Architects, and fellow Solution Design Engineers. Our team members bring diverse backgrounds – from mechatronics engineering and industrial design to business administration and sales.
At Applied, we are driven by innovation, engaging with prospective customers from their initial exploration of automation, through pre‐tender concept development, to crafting final tender submissions. We consult, design, and package comprehensive proposals that capture project objectives, technical requirements, strategic approaches, solution overviews, performance metrics, cost modules, and delivery timelines.
Our expertise spans a wide range of advanced automation technologies, including robotics, Vision Systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and safety systems. We work directly with decision‐makers overseeing national and APAC operations, ensuring our customised solutions align perfectly with their strategic goals and deliver significant return on investment.
We are a full turn‐key project provider, offering:
* Conceptual and detailed design
* Manufacturing
* Ongoing support
Role Responsibilities
* Strategic Sales Partnership: Partner with Sales Representatives once an opportunity is identified. You will lead the technical qualification phase, providing early‐stage concept designs and estimates to ensure project viability and strategic alignment.
* End‐to‐End Design Ownership: Facilitate and lead customer site visits to capture intricate technical specifications and commercial ROI drivers.
* Team Leadership & Mentoring: Mentor a collaborative group of Solutions Design Engineers. You will oversee concept development, 3D modelling, and proposal drafting, ensuring the team delivers world‐class engineering documentation.
* Tender Architecture: Lead the "convergence" process to produce detailed tender submissions, including:
* Complex solution layouts and modular designs.
* Operational sequence mapping and performance rationale.
* Detailed Cycle Time Analysis and throughput validation
* Operations & Costing Alignment: Collaborate directly with the COO to validate costings and ensure that proposed delivery dates are realistic and achievable.
* Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of AI, Vision Systems, and Robotics, vetting global technologies to maintain Applied Robotics' edge in the APAC region.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
* Engineering Expertise: A strong foundation in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with significant experience in industrial automation or robotics integration.
* Management Ability: Proven experience leading technical teams or complex projects, with a passion for mentoring junior talent.
* Technical Ability: Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD and a deep understanding of cycle time modelling and performance rationale.
* Commercial Acumen: The ability to understand financial drivers and articulate the ROI of a solution to C‐suite decision‐makers.
* Collaborative Mindset: Comfort working at the intersection of Sales, Engineering, and Operations.
