The Department's Procurement Transformation Program requires a highly skilled leader to spearhead the Category Optimisation & Partnerships Project. As Project Lead, you will oversee the development and delivery of procurement category optimisation across Queensland Health, driving exceptional project management skills to shape and execute wide-ranging initiatives.
This leadership role reports to the Procurement Transformation Program Director and involves managing a multi-disciplined project delivery team of five direct reports. Key responsibilities include:
* Working closely with Queensland Health employees to transfer knowledge and upskill, ensuring capability retention within the organisation;
* Leading the design, development, and implementation of category management optimisation initiatives in collaboration with key stakeholders, delivering long-term value and benefits;
* Leveraging embedded program procurement SMEs to maximise project opportunities and benefits;
* Negotiating and problem-solving with diverse clients, including external third-party vendors;
* Providing guidance and support to the project team, acting as a point of escalation for complex stakeholder and project issues;
* Implementing appropriate governance and project management practices aligned with the Department's Project Management Framework;
* Identifying key delivery risks, leading reviews, and providing guidance on risk management and mitigation;
* Collaborating with business partners on transformational change and assessing its impact on risk control frameworks, people, technology, and processes;
* Sharing knowledge and supporting best practice delivery for category optimisation, managing peer relationships to drive maximum statewide benefit from initiatives;
* Ensuring adherence to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies, and procedures.
Key qualifications and experience required for this role include:
* Demonstrated experience in conceptualising, strategising, and leading the delivery of optimisation activities in complex environments;
* An understanding of procurement commercial principles and experience in complex contract negotiation;
* Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative and practical solutions for large-scale and complex change programs;
* Experience in leading and mentoring diverse teams, with a focus on scope to success;
* Advanced communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, including advising and influencing executive stakeholders on complex issues;
* Tertiary qualification in supply chain, procurement, project management, or a related field is desirable;
* Active membership in relevant professional associations is also desired;
* Ability to occasionally undertake work-related travel across the state.
