About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non‑corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
The NDIS Commission works with people with disability, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), governments and the sector who together deliver the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

About the role
The Assistant Director, Platform Engineering is responsible for the design, build and technical evolution of the DART platform. This role provides technical leadership to ensure platform services are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with organisational standards and focuses on engineering excellence and controlled change, ensuring platform capabilities are delivered in a way that supports regulatory obligations while remaining operationally supportable.
Key duties of the position
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Lead the engineering and technical development of DART platform services and environments across all DART environments.
* Shared responsibility for production stability and platform operability, in partnership with Data Operations & Assurance team.
* Contribution to technology risk assessments and design authority decisions.
* Define and maintain platform architecture patterns, standards and engineering practices.
* Lead implementation of platform capabilities including CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability and integration tooling.
* Ensure non‑functional requirements such as security, performance, resilience and auditability are embedded into platform design.
* Manage technical delivery by vendors and internal teams, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
Eligibility
* Has experience delivering platforms in regulated or high‑assurance environments.
* Has ability to balance engineering velocity with regulatory and audit obligations.
* Has a positive and contemporary attitude to people with disability.
* Manages a team to achieve objectives with a focus on safety, staff wellbeing and high performance.
* Demonstrated planning and project management capability with a focus on quality assurance and delivery of outcomes.
